Day 2, April 26 2010

I forgot to bring my camera, but thanks to Carolyn's phone, we have a few shots from our family home evening garden night. We prepared the soil and planted 8 rows of potatoes-- red and Yukon gold, 2 rows of squash and zucchini, and 2 rows of bell peppers.

Prepared soil full of organic potting dirt, horse manure and fertilizer.
We know how to put our kids to work.

Day 1, April 24 2010

3/4 of an acre all to our liking. Started out by plowing the fields, rototilling, and plotting out the rows.

Preparing the corn rows.

Planting the corn.

We got a great deal on the fence material! Saved over $100!

The land is now ready for the tomato plants.

What a cute cabbage patch kid!

Building the fence to keep the rabbits out.

Day 1 complete! Corn= 5 rows, 100 feet long. Tomatoes= 3 rows of 10 plants each!

When not helping with the garden, the kids kept busy riding bikes and building a tree fort.
